Supporting Park Rangers in Peru
Last year, the Protected Area Workers Association (PAWA), in collaboration with NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) and Clancy Henderson, proudly supported park rangers in Peru through the donation of specialised wildfire uniforms.
The uniforms were formally presented by Peru’s National Service of Natural Protected Areas (SERNANP) during an official ceremony attended by the Executive President of SERNANP and the Minister of the Environment of Peru. The timing of the presentation coincided with the start of Peru’s wildfire season, a critical period when prevention, preparedness, and emergency response efforts are intensified across the country’s protected areas.
SERNANP has expressed its sincere appreciation to PAWA and NPWS for this valuable contribution, noting the vital role park rangers play in protecting ecosystems and responding to wildfires—often in remote and challenging environments. The donated uniforms significantly enhance ranger safety, protection, and operational effectiveness during wildfire prevention and suppression activities, directly strengthening the capacity to respond to environmental emergencies that threaten biodiversity and fragile ecosystems.
Photographs and a video from the uniform delivery ceremony reflect the gratitude and recognition shown by park rangers for this support. These can be viewed via SERNANP’s social media channels, including Facebook https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1R5RZbMduh/
PAWA is proud to be part of this meaningful international collaboration. We thank NPWS for their support and contribution and look forward to continuing to work alongside partners to support park rangers and conservation efforts worldwide. And don’t SERNANP rangers look great in the wildfire uniforms?
