PAWA 2026 Gala Fundraiser Celebrates World Ranger Day and Raises Over $27,000
On 31 July 2026, more than 120 people gathered at the Protected Area Worker Association's (PAWA) 2026 Gala Fundraiser to celebrate World Ranger Day and honour the people who have lost their lives in the line of duty protecting our natural and cultural heritage.
Supporters from across New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory came together at The Woolshed, Yallah, for an evening of reflection, connection and celebration. Guests enjoyed a wonderful meal and inspiring presentations from a distinguished group of speakers, including Auntie May Button, Uncle Peter, Alex Graham (Deputy Secretary, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service), Carol Berry MP (Member for Whitlam), Peter Garrett (Chair, Landcare), and Leah Pippos (Chair, PAWA).
A special thank you goes to our Master of Ceremonies, Kevin Barron (VOX FM), and to Lachlie Gill and Rae for providing outstanding entertainment throughout the evening.
We are delighted to share that, thanks to the generosity of our attendees and supporters, the event raised more than $27,000.
This remarkable achievement would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors, donors, volunteers and everyone who attended on the night. We also extend our sincere thanks to those who contributed from afar and cheered us on from their communities. Your generosity and belief in PAWA's mission enable us to continue supporting protected area workers across NSW, the ACT and Oceania.
Thank you for being part of this important event and for helping us recognise and support the people who dedicate their lives to protecting our natural places.
If you were unable to donate on the night, there is still time to support PAWA's work. Donations help us continue delivering programs and assistance for rangers and protected area workers across NSW, the ACT and Oceania.
Please enjoy the photos from the evening below and feel free to share them with your friends, family and colleagues. These moments were captured by Melanie Russell Photography.
